Based in the beautiful Scottish Highlands, where the air and water are clear and pure, are Gillies Fine Foods of Dingwall. A family run company producing a range of premium quality, Scottish Extra Jams, traditional Seville Orange Marmalade, sweet sauces, savoury sauces, jellies for meat and cheese and our own modern version of the Traditional Clootie Dumpling.
Whenever we can we use locally gown ingredients; 90% of the soft fruit that we use, raspberries, strawberries (still harvested as late as the end of September or even early October), redcurrants and blackcurrants are grown here in the Highlands and the other 10% coming from further south in Scotland. We see the fruit growing, we know the growers. The fruit is picked by hand and the average time from picking to pan or freezer is just a few hours. The rowan berries that go into making our Scottish Rowanberry Jelly for Game are collected from the wild; we do not ever use concentrate.
Time and great care are taken in the manufacture of our products. All are traditionally made in small batches to ensure maximum flavour and quality and all of our products are free from artificial, chemical additives, flavourings and preservatives. No concentrates or citric acid, just natural goodness.
Our quality is reinforced by such customers as The Gleneagles Hotel, The Three Chimneys on Skye who, when they run out of their own home made marmalade, use ours for their signature dish of Hot Marmalade Pudding, and several 5 star and premium hotels in Edinburgh, London and throughout the UK. We are included in Rick Stein’s Guide to the Food Heroes of Britain, The Scottish Food Guide, Henrietta Greens Foodlovers Britain and recommended online by Gourmetbritain.com
